The future of high-performance displays and integrated circuits:

Fast. Flexible. Simple.

See the next generation of thin film electronics and how it promises to redefine integrated circuit manufacturing

Amorphyx is an innovator at the intersection of materials science and electronics.  We leverage our expertise in amorphous metals and the creation of high-quality thin films in developing a family of quantum tunneling and semiconductor electronic devices, circuits, materials systems and manufacturing processes.

The Amorphyx technologies create new performance and manufacturability for rigid and flexible integrated circuits for premium-grade displays in consumer electronics to the coming generation of system-level integrated circuits on plastic substrates.

The Amorphyx technologies leverage existing thin film deposition equipment and techniques - reducing capital equipment and bill of materials costs to 1% of today’s LSI and VLSI silicon wafer fabs.

Applications

Displays for consumer electronics are the world’s largest market for thin film electronics. Amorphyx’s technologies focus on

  • improving image quality;

  • improving mobile device batter life;

  • simplifying manufacturing to increase factory output capacity; and

  • dramatically reduce display factory capital equipment costs through process simplification.

Flexible large scale integrated circuits (LSI) incorporating antenna, RF/analog physical layer, data converter and application-specific microprocessor are the enabling technology for the mass adoption of the wireless sensors and data links that are the foundation of the Internet of Things.

  • Consumable wireless sensors for medical applications

  • Disposable wireless trackers for industrial applications

  • Automotive applications

Device Technologies

Amorphyx’s initial device technologies - the IGZO semiconductor Amorphous Metal Thin Film Transistor and the quantum tunneling Amorphous Metal Nonlinear Resistor - are optimized for liquid crystal, AMOLED and microLED displays requiring 240Hz and beyond image refresh rate and 0.1-240Hz variable image refresh rate capabilities.

The IGZO AMeTFT technology can be optimized for large-scale integrated circuits on plastic substrates, acting as a bridge to the under-development Amorphous Metal Hot Electron Transistor’s THz-level switching speeds.
